Shift2Zero hosts the second round of user workshops at DPD in Wrocław and Diakinisis in Athens

The Shift2Zero project recently held its second series of interactive user workshops, continuing its mission to co-create zero-emission logistics solutions. The workshops took place at DPD’s facilities in Wrocław, Poland (May 21–22), and at Diakinisis’ premises in Athens, Greece (May 28–29). Organised by the Institute for Automotive Engineering (IKA), these sessions brought together logistics professionals and researchers for hands-on collaboration.

The primary goal was to better understand the needs and daily challenges of delivery couriers using electric vehicles. Discussions focused on vehicle design, usability, safety, and how e-vehicles fit into regular delivery operations. The feedback gathered will play a key role in shaping the development of new electric light commercial vehicles (e-LCVs) under the Shift2Zero project.

At the DPD workshop, participants explored how to manage large package volumes across a wide depot and hub network, including the special demands of cold chain logistics. Meanwhile, the Diakinisis workshop addressed the difficulties of navigating Athens’ narrow, congested streets and the complexities of distributing diverse goods, ranging from household items to food and pharmaceuticals, across a vast delivery network.

These workshops provided valuable, real-world insights that will directly influence the design of next-generation e-LCVs tailored to the needs of modern logistics.
