From design to pilots: Shift2Zero partners gather in Thessaloniki, Greece
Shift2Zero partners gathered in Thessaloniki, Greece, from 14–16 September to review progress and plan the next steps. The project’s vehicle innovations are moving from design to prototyping and integration, and the consortium is getting ready for its real-life pilots.
The 4th General Assembly was hosted by the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH). In an interactive poster session, innovation leaders presented the status of the solutions being developed for the project’s electric light commercial vehicles.
Partners reviewed the latest developments, from modular cargo solutions to geofencing, and saw a live demo of the Shift2Zero fleet management platform. The programme also included a visit to Diakinisis to learn about the logistics operations behind the Thessaloniki pilot, and a tour of CERTH’s facilities.
With real-life trials approaching, hands-on workshops helped the consortium define pilot scenarios and the key indicators that will measure the impact of the new vehicles.
The General Assembly took place the same week as the CIVITAS Forum 2026, the flagship event of the CIVITAS Initiative, also held in Thessaloniki. It was an ideal setting to connect with Europe’s urban mobility community.
Shift2Zero, coordinated by the Eurecat Technology Centre, is a collaboration of 30 partners across 10 European countries. Together, they are developing and testing mission-specific, zero-emission vehicles to make urban logistics cleaner, smarter and more efficient.
