Shift2Zero at Leaders in Logistics 2026: Driving Sustainable and Digital Transformation

The Shift2Zero project was showcased at the Leaders in Logistics Summit 2026, held on 17–18 March in Brussels. Organised with the active involvement of ALICE, the event brought together key stakeholders from across retail, parcel delivery, and logistics to address the rapid transformation of the sector.

Within this context, Shift2Zero contributed to high-level discussions on how to manage increasing delivery volumes while improving cost efficiency, service levels, and environmental performance, particularly in last-mile operations. The project’s focus on zero-emission solutions, innovative delivery models, and system-level optimisation closely aligned with the Summit’s core priorities.

Across multiple sessions, a clear message emerged: sustainable logistics depends on system-level optimisation rather than isolated actions. Discussions highlighted key operational levers such as smarter routing, improved delivery success rates, shared infrastructure, and the transition to zero-emission fleets, demonstrating how environmental goals can be achieved alongside cost efficiency and high service levels, principles that are central to Shift2Zero. These priorities are closely aligned with EU-funded projects such as DISCO, GREENTURN and DELPHI, which, together with Shift2Zero, support the transition towards more efficient, collaborative and sustainable urban logistics systems.

The event also reinforced the importance of collaboration and digitalisation, including the role of data spaces and emerging technologies in enabling more resilient and adaptive logistics networks. In this landscape, Shift2Zero stands as a key initiative supporting the development and scaling of practical solutions for zero-emission urban logistics.
